If you are a novice, converting a normal gas driven car into an electric vehicle is not easy. You will need to get your hands dirty and lots of elbow grease. The videos show how it is like to pull out the internal combustion engine. The end goal is to remove the engine, the radiator and the fuel lines.

Generally, you are taking our the plumbing system of the car and replacing it with electric wires. Also, check out the blog post on the tools needed for a DIY electric car conversion.

Converting a Geo Metro Into an Electric Car

A Geo Metro car is pretty unique to the United State. Honestly, I have never seen a Geo cars before. Apparently, A Geo Metro is quite suitable to be retrofitted into an electric vehicle (EV). One of the reason is its low cost. If you are looking for a cheap donor car for your Do It Yourself (DIY) electric car project, a Geo Metro may be a good bet. I found a really good series of a person converting his 1996 Geo Metro into an EV. Check it out below.

The DIY $672 Electric Geo Metro – What do you get when you cross a Geo Metro with an electric forklift, a golf cart, and a bunch of used batteries? You get a ridiculously inexpensive, home-built, street-legal electric car. This battery powered grocery getter was built …

geo metro – in 1994, i bought my first car (thanks cass & ann) and it was a brand new geo metro. that car had four doors, was green and got about 45 miles to the gallon, yes you heard right, 45 miles to the gallon, and only cost me about 8000 …

car respect–geo metro – within that context, the metro was the ne plus ultra. there has been a lot of conversation lately about alternative-fuel cars, hybrids, electric cars, hydrogen-fueled cars, smart cars, and the like–all very cool developments, …

If you own an old Geo Metro and you are planning to convert it into an electric vehicle, you can do so with minimum investment.
