Most of those who contemplate to set up a small electric car conversion manufacturing line for carrying out semi-skilled conversion jobs will never make any headway beyond conceptual stage, even though it is not at all a difficult job to do. The major reason for this is the prohibitively high costs involved in such jobs.

For example, in order to convert a superior model car fitted with entirely new components will cost a huge amount of money, around $5000 to $10,000 that too exclusive of labor costs. Nevertheless, there are a number of methods to cut down on these costs.

Here are several steps involved in establishing a small electric car conversion business.

1. To start with, one should float a LLC (LTD) company and draw up a detailed plan with specific time schedule. Once a feasibility report is ready, he should apply for a business loan from the bank. If the project is viable, subject to bank confirming the credit worthiness of the borrower, it is not difficult to obtain a bank loan.

In several countries, one can apply for a bank loans online on the internet. If the documentation is complete and satisfies the bank’s requirements, one can easily get the loan and start the operations within a week.

2. The next step in setting up the car conversion line of business is to purchase all the electric car parts in bulk quantities. One can save a lot of money when purchasing electric car motors, controllers and various accessories in large quantities by arranging with the supplier bulk discounts as well as price discounts.

Apart from this, there will be considerable saving in transport costs. All these factors will result in substantial reduction in the overall cost per car.

3. Final step is to modernize and organize the process to minimize time and labor costs. It is important to use the same type of vehicle for each conversion so that only one set of battery racks needs to be designed and is set up in a specific manner.

Suppose one tries to convert five different cars, it requires five different sets of battery racks and along with that there will be variety of problems to deal with, ultimately spending a lot of time and money. Although it is possible to take up more than one type of car at a time for conversion, it involves a lot of time and money on account of additional labor costs.

The best way to cut down time by at least 50% is to rationalize and repeat each step from making gear box adapters to installing five sets of controllers. This way conversion of each car can be completed at the same time for delivery to the market.

This facilitates selling all the converted cars in one lot, thereby saving costs on advertisement and sales promotion. There is currently a lot of demand for electric cars and it is likely to increase every time the gasoline prices go up. In this scenario, there is no need for spending money on advertising for electric cars.

The major car manufacturers making electric cars charge very high prices for electric cars and this automatically creates more business for converted electric cars. The success of this venture depends upon how fast gasoline-powered cars are converted to electric cars.

It is very important to convert the cars at the shortest time possible in order to increase productivity and maximize profits. The cars such as the Nissan Leaf will be selling for above $40,000 when it is marketed next year.

If the batteries are bought outright instead of leasing, one could convert at least two cars for $40,000 with the same range of 100 miles as the 2011 Nissan For those who have taken up this business for the first time may find electric car conversion job a daunting task.

Nevertheless, with a good planning, dedication and hard work, one can reap lots of profits in electric car conversion business.

With ever increasing prices of gasoline, car owners have been constantly on the lookout for cheaper source of energy to power their vehicles. Thanks to many technological inventions, these people need not worry any longer about steep increase in the prices of gasoline as electric cars have re-entered the markets with a bang after going off the roads for a long time due to lack of demand.

Buoyed by the amazing popularity for electric cars, many people are enthused by the idea of converting their gasoline-powered cars into electric vehicles. It is not at all difficult to construct an electric car by replacing the current gasoline-powered internal combustion engine with an electric motor. A few technical details regarding car conversion and small amount of expenditure are all that are required for electric car conversion.

Many people may not be aware that electric cars were first introduced in the beginning of 1900s, when gasoline was very costly and that forced people to start driving electric cars. During that time the technology of gasoline-powered cars was primitive and there was no key to ignite the engine. People had to painstakingly turn on a lever in front of the car to start the engine.

Gasoline-powered engines emitted plenty of smoke and also had very deafening mufflers. With the passage of time, several innovative technologies were developed and people adopted easier and more productive methods to extract gasoline. Later versions of cars incorporated electric starters and the gasoline-powered cars could cover more distance than electric cars.

With these advantages, gasoline-powered cars soon became the most popular mode of transport. However, with gasoline prices at the peak at present and vigorous campaign all over the world for a pollution-free, green environment by reducing emissions of harmful gases, people have now begun moving towards popularizing electric cars once again.

An electric car does not need gasoline at all to power the engine as they are run by the electric current produced by the batteries. Electric car motors are equipped with 12 to 24 volt batteries for each electric vehicle. However, these batteries are required to be charged during the night by plugging it into an electric outlet.

By the time one gets up in the morning he will find the car with the batteries fully charged. A single charge will easily cover a distance of up to 200 miles before it needs recharging again. The main advantage of conversion of the existing traditional car to an electric one is that it will obviate the need to fill gasoline in the vehicle thereby saving a lot of money.

The money saved can be utilized for various other purposes. By owning an electric car, one can also participate in the ‘go green movement’ to cut down the harmful effects of global warming. There is no need to convert the entire vehicle. There are a number of do-it-yourself (DIY) electric car conversion kits available in the market or DIY electric car conversion kits that can be downloaded from the online websites on the internet It is worth buying these guides that give step by step instructions for building an electric car from a gasoline vehicle.

These DIY guides are reasonably priced and facilitate conversion of the present gasoline vehicle into a cost-effective Eco-friendly green car

If you are fed up with your old fashioned internal combustion engine car, this is the right time to do something which is really creative, paying and environmental friendly. The bet and unique option is to get your car converted into an electric car by installing the conversion kit.

Many people across the world and also in the United States are fed up with the rising gasoline prices and people do not earn enough to afford the rising gasoline prices. They have to spend a good chunk of money on the purchase of gasoline and very little is left to meet the other expenses.

Some of the options considered by many nations are to find alternative energy source which can replace the present gasoline and diesel. There are experiments going on use of LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) or bio-fuels derived from the plants that can potentially run the vehicles with same power as with fossil fuels.

Some nations are also trying to use water and recycled cooking oil as the alternative fuel to power the engines of the vehicles. But these are still in the initial stage of testing and the safety has not been established as yet.

One has to also see the supply of raw material for running the vehicles on the bio-fuels. In the United States, many people have been testing on converting the car’s internal combustion engine to run on the electricity. The results will encourage the big companies to approve and manufacture electrically converted cars or start selling the electrical conversion kits to people at the affordable prices.

Such effort will help people to cope with the rising prices of fossil fuels. In the United States, many companies are selling converted cars and many people are opting for it to get rid of their old fashioned cars.

Such a conversion requires complete removal of the internal combustion engine and its parts to be replaced by the electric conversion kit. Batteries being an important component are added and the wire system is connected as per the requirement so that the car gets the electricity to power the motor.

The entire conversion should cost around $7,000 and above and the car owner can save a lot of money which he would otherwise spend on the purchase of gasoline. Most of the conversion kits are available in two types, the custom kit is made especially for specific type of vehicles and the universal type can be used on any type of vehicles like cars and trucks.

Each type off conversion has different tools; it depends upon the type of car which is fitted with the conversion kit. Normally the tools include advance DC motor, adapter, contractor, controller, pot box, circuit breaker, fusible links, amp gauges, volt gauge, shunt, charger, cables and the rechargeable batteries.

If you are doing it yourself without any assistance from any expert, it is always better to follow the instruction of some good guide which will reduce any mistakes.

The prices of petroleum products have been gradually increasing across the world over the last several years. The main reason for spurt in oil prices are that the natural resources for these products are slowly running down and according to experts, it will dry up in about 20 years.

In view of this alarming scenario, owners of cars have been seriously looking around for other types of cars that give the same mileage as gasoline-powered cars that consume a lot of fuel and cars whose maintenance costs are also comparatively lower.

Electric cars, also known as electric vehicles or EVs, are excellent alternatives to traditional ‘gas-guzzlers’. Ever since its invention, the electric cars have been competing with traditional vehicles.

However, the demand for EVs dropped ever since Ford began manufacturing its ‘Model T’ cars on a large-scale and soon electric cars went off the roads. Since that time, car manufacturers have been hesitant to manufacture electric cars except for displaying in showrooms. This situation continued till 1996 when General Motors manufactured numerous types of electric cars such as EV1.

However, the reentry of electric vehicles received a lukewarm response and was a failure mainly due to oil companies and a few major car manufacturers, who thwarted every attempt of EV’s to come back into the automobile markets.

As the name implies, electric cars are powered by electricity. They were first launched in 1880s and were very popular during that time primarily because of almost noise-free engines in comparison with the disagreeable noise produced by internal combustion engines of gasoline-run vehicles.

In addition, the maintenance costs of electric cars were comparatively low. However, in view of several factors, electric cars could not compete with traditional cars and were soon out of the market. Nevertheless, the demand for electric vehicles revived once again not only due to cost factors but also because they are pollution-free Eco-friendly cars.

As electric cars do not utilize any fossil fuel and other similar natural resources, they do not emit any harmful gases. That is the reason why electric cars are popularly known as “ZEVs” or zero emission vehicles.

Electric cars have also become very popular once again because the present day traditional gasoline-run cars are considered responsible for emission of greenhouse gases causing global warming due to air pollution. With the rapid development of technologies in the automobile industry, the components of electric cars have substantially come down.

These innovations have also contributed to the production of more sturdy and efficient electric cars. Electric car batteries available these days have much longer lifespan and can cover more mileage per charge than before. All the other components are easily available in most of the departmental stores and hardware stores.

There is an increasing awareness among a number of car owners these days about the numerous advantages of using electric cars. As many car manufacturers do not make electric cars, several people have started constructing an electric car as Do It Yourself (DIY) job.

Anybody can have a homemade electric car with the help of instruction manuals. Many people convert their cars into an electric vehicle on their own as a hobby and this has become a fascination for some people. The concept of converting their cars into electric cars is catching up fast.

One can get the details of various components required for building an electric car and the places where they are available at reasonable prices. Apart from this, they are a lot of ‘online forums’ where people interested in electric cars can share their ideas and extend all assistance to those who want to construct an electric car.

Many people are also trying to create awareness among car owners encouraging them to convert their cars into electric vehicles. However, unless more and more people come forward and appreciate the importance of electric cars, the demand for these types of cars will not pick up much and traditional cars will continue to be manufactured on a large scale.

For those who maintain cars or motor cycles or those in the building maintenance business, buffers and polishers are indispensable equipment. They are used to maintain the gloss of the paint for long and keep the floors of buildings spick and span and shining all the time.

Buffers and polishers eliminate small deficiencies such as “scratches and dings” and wipe them out completely, besides polishing the existing finish in the region of deficiencies in such a way that the scratches and other defects are barely noticeable.

Buffering and polishing equipment are normally run along the floors after applying wax like solution to make the surface appear bright and gleaming. A floor buffing and polishing equipment normally consists of two big spinning heads at the bottom, provided with a shaft, handles and controls meant for the user to move it forward along the length of the floor.

A small motor powers the rotating pads and the user presses it down to get a bright glossy polish on the floor. A wax solution is normally applied on the surface and left it as it is for some time for drying before it is buffed and polished.

After this, if the machine is run, it will produce a beautiful finish. Buffing and polishing equipment are also known as “‘rotary floor machines”. The rotary heads will turn at different speeds depending upon how intense one needs to rub the floor.

Lower speeds are necessary to remove stubborn stains, scars and dirt. Lower speeds are also required if the exiting polish is to be removed so that one can apply a fresh polish. Higher speeds are needed for polishing or cleaning hardwood floors.

The head for floor buffing and polishing equipment is capable of turning around 100 to 400 revolutions per minute. Most of the floor polishers need regular electricity from the mains to run, though a few industrial models can be operated with the help of batteries or propane canisters.

Plug-in models ensure steady supply of electricity. The battery and gas models are ideal for pollution-free clean energy buildings and for clearing dirt from distant corners in a building. The floor buffer and polisher equipment cost anywhere between a few hundred dollars and thousand dollars.

Polishing & Buffing Cars

Car and motor vehicle buffer and polisher machines are almost similar to floor polishing equipment, though there are certain major differences between the two.

Car and motor cycle paint buffer and polisher have only one rotating head that spins at varying speeds. Only hand tools are used for paint finish before buffing and polishing. Buffing and polishing machines are equipped with automatic as well as manual drives.

In automatic drive, a computer controlled system will determine the precise speed required for the job. These adjustments can also be done manually. These equipment are available in various sizes based on the diameter of the wheel and include three inch, four inch and six inch diameter machines.

The user of the equipment will exert pressure depending upon the requirements. A buffer and polisher equipment can remove scratches, rust, stains and dirt from the paint easily. Costlier implements are provided with a “computer controlled feedback” device that automatically regulates the speed of the wheel based on the extent of pressure exerted.

These equipment can be plugged into the electrical sockets on the wall. The head of automatic equipment spins at varying speeds between 1000 and 8000 revolutions per minute. The prices of a car or motor cycle buffer and polisher equipment vary from forty dollars to over one hundred dollars depending upon its quality and features.

Everyone loves to have a smooth ride in a car and one of the major factors closely related with smooth riding is shock absorbers. But to what extent the shock absorbers can be blamed for undue vehicle jerks, as it depends on the proper functioning of sway bars, bushings, stiffness of the chassis and the quality of the tires may also make the ride miserable.

As you know, a homemade electric car has to carry extra weight of the deep cycle batteries throughout the chassis of the vehicle. When the internal combustion engine of the vehicle has been removed, it is very important to get the total weight balanced correctly. In this sense, the suspension system of the DIY electric car is even more important.

To have a comfortable and smooth ride, suspension settings are very crucial and these settings may vary from vehicle to vehicle depending upon the driving conditions. An experienced driver may be aware of the road condition and would be very cautious while driving and would prefer safe and controlled driving methods, when compared to an inexperienced driver who may be little rash and may ride at high speeds irrespective of the road conditions.

For instance, two cars manufactured by the same company are given to an experienced and less experienced driver then both of them would prefer to make significant tuning suspension damping for smooth riding according to their driving styles. So the key for fine tuning of suspension lies in the hands of the driver who has good control over the car he drives.

The fine tuning of suspension is no guarantee for a smooth ride on your EV as the settings have to be changed from driver to driver frequently and better alternative to this would be to prefer non-adjustable expensive shock absorbers of Bilstein and Koni with lifetime warranties.

If you want to have shock absorbers within your budget, then you should think of Tokico blues, known for good performance at a competitive price. So these shock absorbers are of great choice to an average driver who enjoys smooth rides without breaking the bank.

Now, let us think about a high performance electric car. In this case, an adjustable shock absorber will be very helpful to improve the performance and handling of the EV. The problem is not during acceleration because the electric motor has more than enough torque.

The problem is when your electric car is taking a corner at high speed. The extra weight of the batteries will definitely send your vehicle off the cornering line. So a high quality suspension and shock absorbers are important for a safe ride.

Having high quality shock absorbers to your electric car is no guarantee for a smooth ride as loosen or weak chassis condition may not give the desired smooth ride results. Over a period of time, if the chassis is not repaired in time, it may cause some amount of damage to the absorbers. Make sure the check and maintain the absorbers on a regular basis to prolong its service life.

The best way to have hassle free car riding would be to install chassis braces and good quality sub frame connectors. To fix the cars inflexibility cheap braces would benefit a lot.

For people who love to ride their EV fast can replace the spring with that of sway bars and for a comfortable high speed ride. Sometimes the change of sway bars may not result in the desired result, then you may have to replace stiffer brushings also.

The process of suspension tuning is to choose the best alternative for a given car model. So before opting for changes to the absorbers, it is always advisable to know your expectations and to have a clear idea of what to buy.

How well do you know the tires used on your DIY electric car? Green product, fuel saver and low rolling resistance, these are all the jargon used when you are introduced to tire designed with silica.

Generally, they all are fundamentally the same thing and refer to performance and advantages achieved by adding silica to the tread compound of tires. Yup, it is pretty technical stuff and the significant advantage of adding silica is reduced drag and at the same time maintaining performance and essential qualities such as wet grip. In other words, the tires are safer and you can reduce the discharge rate of the batteries on your homemade electric vehicle (EV).

Tires containing silica have been in the market for over a decade. Where silica has actually been widely used in tire design plans since last few years or so. The use of silica is today widespread.

Use of silica by leaders such as Michelin in the Michelin Energy and Continental in the ContiEcoContact CP and EP tires was considered to be an actual breakthrough in tire technology.

Question is why low rolling resistance tires are so revolutionary in design and how does a consumer benefits from what it offers? Solving the compromise is a major problem that is faced by tire designers who have traditionally solved the compromise between low rolling resistance and wet grip.

Rolling resistance is the amount of energy a tire absorbs caused by revolving and deflecting. The lower the rolling resistance the lesser the energy needed propel the vehicle forward thus lower power consumption from the electric motor.

However, lowering the rolling resistance has traditionally meant a reduction in wet grip performance which obviously is unacceptable. What’s the use of having power in the battery bank but you’ll end up in a ditch every time you take a corner in your EV?

This problem has been worked out by replacing certain quantities of carbon black with silica in the tire’s tread compound which enables manufacturers to produce tires that provide wet skid properties, better winter performance and lower rolling resistance, all at the same time. All in all, it is a good thing!

The reason why this technology has been considered to be revolutionary is best described as follows: Grip is affected the degree at which a tire is distorted at higher frequencies, in other words the degree to which it hits the small stones and unevenness on the surface of the road.

Grip is also served by rubber compounds that absorb higher level of energy (high hysteresis compounds). Rolling resistance, on the other hand is affected by low frequency distortion that is the deflection of tire as it revolves. It also requires compounds which absorb low quantities of energy (low hysteresis compounds).

This contrast is the reason to why it has been impossible in the past to provide tires which can reduce rolling resistance and increase in wet grip. Again, it is very technical but kind of interesting if you are a science freak.

Tire engineers however have been able to produce compounds which are high hysteresis at high frequencies and low hysteresis at low frequencies with the addition of silica. The use of silica can cause a reduction in rolling resistance by 20% and more.

Assuming correct tire pressures are maintained and making allowances for changing speeds together with different driving characteristics, a 20% reduction in rolling resistance equates to 5% fuel savings on conventional gasoline driven automobile.

The use of silica can also improve wet skid performance. By adding silica to their winter tire range, Vredestein claim to have improved wet skid performance by 15% and at the same time substantially improving, braking distances.

Silica also provides substantial benefits with winter tires and all-season tires. Compounds using silica are more elastic and flexible at lower temperatures that allow better grip and braking during cold weather.

Therefore, when you are looking for a new set of tires for your electric car, get the type with silica designed. With this type of tires, you can extend your EV effective driving mileage and much safer at the same time.

By being able to change the oil and wiper blades on an automobile, it’s possible for you to build an electric car of your own. What it takes is a bit of know-how and definitely which is not akin to a rocket science. The following are 9 tips if you are planning to start a homemade electric vehicle (EV) conversion project on a small budget.

1) Start by doing your research.

Before you proceed to make an electric car on your own, try to go through all the materials that you can get your hands on this particular subject. Put on your reading glasses and learn as much as you can on EV conversion.

2) Fine someone to help you.

Try to get the assistance someone who has been a successful in retrofitting a gas guzzler to pure electric car. It would be even better if you get in touch with the local Electric Auto Association and actively talk to people there. If you are lucky, someone with a bit of experience will mentor you.

3) Hunting for the donor car.

Arrange for a donor vehicle (which is nothing but the gas-guzzler to rip out the guts). It doesn’t matter if the internal combustion engine is busted because you don’t need it anyway. That will save you some money.

4) Buying a custom electric vehicle conversion kit.

You should get a conversion kit which is really helpful while building the electric car. It will cost you some money, but it will help you to save a lot of time.

5) Be friend your local machinist.

During the time you build your own electric car, grow a friendship with your local machinist. Otherwise, you are certainly the machinist with your garage consisting of the large machining tools but requiring only one.

An accurate machining is inevitable in respect of the transmission adaptor plate and the assembly which connects a transmission with the electric motor. You will be the most indignant person with your conversion so long it exists.

6) Get more help.

Arrange for a couple of your friends to help you yank the engine out. Every town has experienced and well-maneuvered mechanics that can extract the 700 pounds engines from the car in a couple of hours. If you are a novice, it may take you the whole day to do so.

Leave it to them to get the engine out. It might cost you some money, but trust me, it will save you a lot of time.

7) Prepare your work space.

You should choose a place which clean, warm, adequately illuminated and dry to make your electric car. You want your EV conversion experience a pleasant one.

8) Chalk out a delivery schedule for parts.

When you have decided to build your own electric, you should order the EV parts and have them delivered to you as when you need it. You don’t want the parts to be lying around in your garage and taking up space.

Your EV mentor will be able to assist you in terms of project management and scheduling. If you have planning to use a custom conversion kit, make sure you space in your garage to store all the components.

9) Maintain a project blog.

Start a blog and document the progress of your homemade electric car project. List down all the mistakes that you’ve made. Be candid and honest. Your EV blog is meant to pass over the experience you’ve gain in your project to someone who is planning to start their own EV project.

Homemade All Electric Automobiles

One benefits of driving an all electric automobile is having less trip to the gas station. Unless you want to use the rest room or buy candy at the service station, you wouldn’t have to go there anymore.

All electric car, as its name suggests, use purely electricity for power. To generate torque, the vehicle uses either a AC or DC electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine (ICE).

How To Own An EV?

For the time being, all electric automobiles are still relatively expensive compared to a conventional vehicle. A good sedan EV from the manufacturers would cost upwards of $40,000. Some district is cheaper because the local government offers grants.

Alternatively, you can own an EV by building one at your home garage. Many car enthusiasts are converting a gasoline driven car to run purely on electricity.

Electric Car Conversion Process

If you want a homemade all electric automobile, first, you have to get a donor car. The donor car is basically the vehicle that you will be converting to EV.

What is the criteria for a donor car? First, it has to be rear wheel drive. Second, make sure there is ample storage space for the batteries. A DIY electric car would require 10 – 15 units of lead acid batteries. To save cost, you can look for a donor car which has a busted engine.

Electric Car “Heart Surgery”

The idea of a DIY all electric car is to remove the internal combustion engine and replaces it with the electric motor. When the engine is gone, all the connecting parts such as gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, radiator, exhaust pipe etc are redundant and can be removed as well.

To generate torque, the electric motor is connected to the existing transmission unit. By having a rear wheel drive donor car, the process of lining up the motor with the transmission will be much easier.

How do you join both the motor and transmission shaft together? You will have to use a device known as a universal coupler and adapter plate. To line up the shafts, you have to custom made a medal bracket for the electric motor.

Not everyone can perform a DIY electric automobile from their home garage. It requires machine tooling skill and also electrical wiring knowledge. If you are not good with hand tools, it may be a better idea to outsource the conversion work to a professional mechanic.

What you should know about a homemade electric car.

The Fundamentals of a Homemade Electric Car

Most car owners have a very positive impression of a pure electric car (PEC). Electric vehicles are known for their low running cost compared to a gasoline driven cars.

For the time being, a brand new electric vehicle (EV) from the manufacturer is still quite expensive. If you were to check the price tag of the sexy Tesla Roadster electric car, we are talking about the price range of over $100,000.00!.

It’s fair to say, that is damn expensive. Even a sedan electric vehicle is selling at the price range of around $40,000.

Why is this so?

Without a high demand, car manufacturers are unable to reach economies of scale, therefore the pricing is beyond the reach for the masses.

As an alternative, we can build an electric vehicle (EV) by converting a gasoline driven car to run on electricity. Many electric car enthusiasts have been using homemade electric vehicles for quite some time now.

Before you get started with a Do It Yourself (DIY) electric vehicle project, there are a few things you have to know. First, you have to identify your driving pattern.

If you need a car to drive long distances to work, an EV may not be right for you. If all you need is to go grocery shopping and run errands around town, then an electric car may suit your needs.

Why is it so? This is because of the limited driving mileage of an EV.

A car with an internal combustion engine (ICE) converted to EV would have a mileage of approximately 50 miles before you have to recharge the batteries.

The actual mileage will depend on the weight of the car, motor power rating, charging state of the batteries and also the driving condition. Unlike a conventional automobile, an EV would need a power outlet to recharge. Imagine if you were to run out of power on a street, it will be tough for you to find a power outlet.

Even if you do locate a power outlet, how much should you pay for the power you’ve consumed. Most electric vehicle owners will usually recharge their EV overnight at home.

To determine your current driving mileage is quite simple, just look at your odometer. Keep track of your net driving mileage everyday for the next 30 days. At the end of the month, add the figures up and get the daily net average. If the number is around 50 miles, then using a homemade electric car will be perfect for you.

DIY Electric Car Conversion Plan

Now that you know your daily driving needs, the next step is to prepare for your EV conversion project. But before you do so, it is best you get the necessary parts and EV design plans.

For a good electric car conversion blueprint, check out Gavin Shoebridge’s Electric Conversion Made Easy e-book. Gavin is from New Zealand and is commonly known as the EV Guy. He became quite famous when he converted his old Mitsubishi Tredia in his garage on a shoestring budget.
