Generally, the Electricy4Gas book was written for those who want to understand the basic science of a homemade electric car. You will not find any detailed electric load calculation formulas in the book. 

I guess most people would not have the tools nor the skill to build their own electric vehicle (EV) at home. It is much easier to outsource the conversion work to a professional mechanic. Nonetheless, the book will provide you some knowledge on EV so when the mechanic is talking to you about the retrofitting project, you will understand what he is trying to say.
