Electric Car Development in Australia
How would the latest electric car development benefits Electric Car enthusiasts in Australia. The recent buzz on the idea of electric car for the masses is the plan from the organization Better Place planning to invest AUD$1 billion to setup Australia own electric car network.
If the idea were to materialized, it would be a great boost for electric car enthusiasts.
We will see more people taking the initiative to initiate DIY electric car conversion project from their home garage.
Better Place vision is to setup mass electric charging station in metropolitan area. The plan is to partner with Nissan / Renault to manufacture the electric vehicle and Better Place with be the battery OEM supplier.
If the demand is high, Nissan / Renault may not have the resources to build enough EVs. Most probably, Better Place may allow electric car enthusiast to retrofit their battery packs on standard gasoline driven cars.
This may also bring down the cost of owning an electric car. It is the chicken and egg scenario. If the electric car infrastructure is in place, more people will use electric vehicle.
If there is a demand, the government and private organization will build more electric car infra. Do you see the cycle now?
