One of the first e-book I bought on DIY electric car conversion is Les Oke’s Convert2EV. That was more than one year ago.

Back then, we were having a global crisis on energy and crude oil was trading at $150 per barrel!

Many people were panicking especially large vehicle owners. It was an expensive and scary experience stopping by the gas station to fuel up.

I was feeling the pinch also. Gasoline prices when up about 10 percent at my place. I knew back then the gas price hike was not the last one. It was a matter of time before it was raised again.

I was looking for a solution to this problem and that has lead me to research on the concept of electric car.

As it turns out, a pure electric car from the manufacturers are really expensive. An EV off the dealership lot can cost upwards of $40,000! I doubt many people can afford that.

A cheaper alternative is to convert a normal automobile to run on pure electricity. That is where Les Oke’s EV manual comes in handy.

If you want to own an electric vehicle, your first option if to send it to a professional EV converter to be retrofitted. Alternatively, you can convert the car on your own via Do It Yourself (DIY) approach. Les has written the EV guide mainly for the DIYers.

Les Oke and his family have been living off the grid for more than 15 years. Part of their green lifestyle is to drive a vehicle with zero emission. An electric car gives them that option.

Throughout the years, Les has converted many cars to run purely on electricity. Convert2EV e-book is his years of EV conversion experience penned down.

Here are a few key points I learned from his guide.

1)	Step by step EV conversion process.

2)	How to cut gasoline cost to nearly zero.

3)	How to get big IRS refund from using an electric car.

Is Les’s Convert2EV worth the investment?

Personally, I did get a lot of information out of it. It was very insightful.

I have plan to send my car to a professional EV workshop to get it converted in the future. I would rather spend some money to get someone to do the work for me.

What I wanted is some basic knowledge on electric car. At least I can have a meaningful conversation with the mechanic so I won’t look totally ignorant.

If you have plan to convert your car to EV, check out Les Oke’s Convert2EV manual.

Does Convert 2 EV Work for Electric Car Conversion Project?

On this blog post, I am going to write about the effectiveness of Les and Jane Oke’s Convert 2 EV online electric car conversion guide.

The way I see it, if you want to drive an electric vehicle (EV), there are 2 ways to get it. You can either buy a new one from electric car manufacturers or convert your existing gasoline driven car to electric.

If you are buying a new one, you’ll have your EV immediately. If are planning to retrofit your car to EV, there are 2 ways to it also. You can either outsource the conversion project or you can Do It Yourself (DIY).

To do your own electric car conversion at home is no easy task. The whole process is like doing heart surgery on your car. You are literally taking out the “heart” of the vehicle which is the internal combustion engine and replacing it with an electric motor.

To do so, you must be well versed with the science of automotive engineering. You need to have tools available in your garage and you must know how to use them. You must be an experienced machinist also because some of the parts have to be custom made.

That leaves us with the option of sending your car to a mechanic to be EV retrofitted. If you are this group of people, Convert 2 EV will be very useful for you.

What the guide will give you is information on electric car conversion. It will cover some basic info but nothing too detailed. After reading the e-book, you will be able to have a intelligent conversation with the mechanic. You will know what are the key components of an electric car and how you can save cost on them.

To answer the question Does Convert 2 EV work?

If you are the person who will be sending your car to a workshop to be converted and you’ll like to know some information on EV so you will be prudent…

Yes, Convert 2 EV does work and you will have an ease of mind knowing you are getting an EV that meets all your requirements.

Convert 2 EV E-Book Review

Today I have decided to do an e-book review on “Build Your Own Electric Car” from www.convert2ev.com. The authors of the book is a couple by the name Les and Jane Oke.

A quick Google search, I found out they also run www.off-grid-living.com. The website showcase life living off the nation electricity grid. Both sites are related to a same topic which is green energy and helping the environment. So far so good.

First thing I notice about the e-book is its horrible looking cover design. But we don’t judge a book by its cover even though there are a lot to be judged. They could have paid $100 to get an e-book cover designed by a professional. But lets move on.

The following are my findings from my Convert2EV review:

It e-book is really simple and easy to understand

It explained how and where to find cheap electric motors

Listed a number of car models which are suitable to be retrofitted into EV

Explained where to find cheap batteries

A list of necessary tools needed for a DIY electric vehicle (EV) conversion

www.Convert2Ev.com also Offers full online support

Generally, the e-book is pretty decent and informative. Build Your Own Electric Car is selling and $49.97 as of October 2008 and is quite competitive compared to other EV conversion guide on the web.

As a bonus, they also include 4 other e-books free of charge. These bonus e-books cover topic related to green energy such as how to live off the grid, solar power, wind power, bio diesel etc.

Since Convert 2 EV is offered under Clickbank, there is the standard unconditional 60 Days Money Back Guarantee. Meaning, if you buy the book and you don’t see any value, you can ask for your money back from Clickbank.

My verdict: It is a good introductory book for anyone who is looking for ways to cut their gasoline expenses. It is understood that most people would not have the skill nor the time to convert an electric car themselves.

Then again we should not be ignorant. If we were to send our car to be retrofitted into an EV in a professional workshop, at least we have some basic knowledge on electric cars. This is to safeguard us from being charged for unnecessary parts and work done.

Check out the related blog post on Electric Vehicle (EV) below:

electric vehicle (ev) conversions are catching on – les and jane oke set out nearly 15 years ago with a goal of “living off the grid” completely without giving up the conveniences of electricity. they worked out ways to generate their own heat and home electricity. …

make your own electric motor car – that;s when les and jane oke set out to “live off the grid.” their goal was to become completely energy self-sufficient – without giving up any of the comforts that go along with energy consumption. they worked out ways to generate …

Once Upon A Time… – After spending most of Saturday trying to figure out why the car wouldn’t engage into gear, I had the bright idea of going down to AutoZone and getting a OBDII Scanner to check the car’s computer. BTW, the scanner costs $152, …
